Hiroshima Airport is served by a handful of airlines, with the vast majority of flights going to or from Tokyo-Haneda Airport, with that route served by All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines. What to Expect When Arriving at the Airport

Hiroshima Airport is one of the few Japanese airports to not have any rail connections. That means that if you want to get to Hiroshima city centre, which is about 50 km away, you will have to do so via bus or car. Shuttle buses travel to the JR Hiroshima Station and the Hiroshima Bus Station, with trips taking about 50 minutes in both cases. There is an expressway nearby, so renting a car is definitely an option.

Airport Facilities

Hiroshima Airport may not be very big, but it is clean and modern and has an impressive number of shops and restaurants relative to its size. The domestic terminal has a JAL and an ANA lounge, while the international terminal has a shared lounge. As a small airport, crowds aren't really an issue and you can expect to get from your plane and out of the terminal fairly quickly. There is also an observation deck where you can watch the planes land and take off.

What to See and Do in Hiroshima

Most visitors come to Hiroshima due to its having been the site of the first atomic bombing of a city in World War II. The Peace Memorial Park contains most of the sights related to the bombing, including the A-Bomb Dome, the cenotaph, and the evocative and emotional Peace Memorial Museum. Other sights unrelated to the atomic bombing but certainly worth a visit include the Hiroshima Castle, a 16th-century structure that was reconstructed after World War II, the Hiroshima Museum of Art, and the Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art.
