Cheap Flights to Alicante Airport

Alicante Airport (ALC) serves as the main gateway to Spain's eighth largest metropolitan area. The airport sits just 9 kilometres to the northeast of the historic heart of Alicante and serves upwards of 10 million passengers each year from its new terminal building (Terminal N), which opened in 2011. All five of the busiest routes flying into this historic Mediterranean hub are from British destinations. Currently, these UK cities are Birmingham, Liverpool, London, and Manchester.

Alicante Airport is Spain's sixth-busiest airport, housing 16 baggage carousels, 40 gates, and almost 100 check-in counters within its single terminal. Most of the planes entering the airport are charter flights filled with tourists headed to Spain's Costa Blanca region, a popular seaside holiday destination. Looking for a cheap flight to Alicante Airport? Skyscanner's Cheapest Month search tool can help you determine the best time to book your ticket.

Best Time to Fly to Alicante Airport

Alicante's coastal location means that whatever time of year you visit the city, you're sure to enjoy great weather, glorious beaches, excellent sightseeing opportunities, delicious cuisine, and a bustling nightlife. The region gets very busy with tourists during the summer season, however, so expect airfare and hotel prices to be higher during these months. By booking your flight during the winter months, you'll still be able to enjoy Alicante's famous seaside promenade, open-air restaurants, and live outdoor entertainment without the high airfare and throngs of tourists that are typical during the summer months. If you've already decided on a date for your trip, Skyscanner's Price Alert tool can help you monitor changes in airfare prices so you can buy your ticket at the lowest possible price.

What to Expect When Arriving at the Airport

Here, you'll find a number of amenities and services, including a currency exchange desk, three information counters, a VIP lounge, a multi-purpose meeting room, tapas and ice cream concessions, retail shops, and three duty-free boutiques.

Alicante Airport is situated about 20 minutes from Alicante's centre, near two major motorways: the A7 and the N332. The easiest way to get to the city centre is by car or taxi. Official airport taxis are white and serve passengers from directly outside of the terminal building. There is also the Automóviles Luarca S.A. (ALSA) bus line, which transports passengers to Barcelona, Granada, and Valencia. Eight local and international car hire companies are located adjacent to the baggage claim in the Arrivals area; they include Avis, Hertz, and Sol-Mar.
