The easiest way to get from the airport to the city centre is by using the metro. The station for the red line is located in the southern end of the arrivals section. The trip to Baixa-Chiado (the city centre) takes about 16 minutes and costs €1.90. The AeroBus shuttle also runs from just outside the arrivals hall to the main destinations in the city and costs €3.50. You can also take a taxi, which should cost about €15 to get to the centre (more if you have luggage that needs to go in the trunk), but beware that overcharging by taxis at the airport is common. A better, more affordable alternative is to take Uber.

Airport Facilities

Most flights arrive at Terminal 1, which is a clean and modern facility. It has cafes and shops both before and after security. If you are flying on a low cast carrier than you will likely arrive at Terminal 2, which has very limited services. ATMs are available throughout the airport and there is also free, unlimited wifi. The airport also offers an online Fast Track pass to let you jump the queue at the security checkpoint.
