Air Koryo, the national airline of North Korea, as well as Air China operate flights to Pyongyang, the capital city of North Korea. Pyongyang International airport, also called Sunan International airport is located in the Sunan district of North Korea. The airport is 24 km northwest of the capital city of Pyongyang.
What to do and see and North Korea
The capital city of Pyongyang has many politically symbolic monuments such as the Juche tower, Kumsusan Palace of the Sun and Arch of Triumph. Two other culturally important cities in North Korea are Haeju and Kaesong. Haeju is a port city with beautiful beaches and mountains. There is a fort in this city that is dedicated to the Great Leader, Kim Il-Sung. Kaesong was once the capital of the Koryo dynasty. There are ruins of bridges, temples and tombs at this site and museums showcasing this period in Korean history.
Within six hours of Pyongyang is a place of great natural beauty. The Kumgangsan or Diamond Mountain Ranges spread over 2400 km and reaches a peak of 1639 m at Piro. They are a visually pleasing sight throughout the year. Another mountain which is sacred to most Koreans is Paektusan, the tallest peak in North Korea at 2750 m. The summit of Paektusan consists of white stone and is snow-capped throughout the year well befitting its name of "white capped mountain".

The Government of Canada advises against all travel to North Korea due to the uncertain security situation caused by North Korea's nuclear weapons program and this country's repressive regime.
