To enter Angola, Canadians must have a passport that is valid for at least 6 months from their date of departure, as well as the appropriate visa. To get a visa, you'll need to complete a criminal background check with your local police or the RCMP (submitted in English and with a notarized Portuguese copy), then apply at an Angolan consulate. What to Do in Luanda

Luanda is a city of contrasts - there are many luxury hotels, restaurants, and attractions for tourists in the middle of the city, but most locals live in slums on the outskirts. We recommend sticking to the city centre for a safe, fun trip. Here are a few ideas to inspire you:

  • Take a walk along the seafront promenade, known as Marginal. You'll find plenty of beautiful hotels, high-class restaurants, and can check out some amazing yachts in the port!
  • Head to Miraduro da Lua, just outside of the city, for some spectacular mountain views and an otherworldly landscape that is sure to impress!
  • Check out the Fortaleza de Sao Miguel, an old colonial fort that overlooks the city. It features some excellent exhibits on Angolan military history with a great view of Luanda.
