What to expect when arriving at the airport
Kuwait International Airport is located 15.5 km south of Kuwait City. You can find taxis just outside of the arrivals hall. The fare into Kuwait City should be around 6 Kuwaiti dinar. Often the better option is to arrange for your hotel to pick you up at the airport. Hotel pick-up is usually either free or cheaper than getting a taxi. You can also rent a car at the airport. Be advised that while street signs are in both Arabic and English, local drivers are notoriously aggressive.
Airport facilities
Kuwait International Airport consists of only one terminal, which means that making connecting flights is usually pretty quick. However, be warned that delays at check-in and customs are common, so schedule a few hours when appropriate. Unfortunately, shopping and restaurant options are rather limited in the transit area. You will find more stores and places to eat in the public departures and arrivals areas. There is also a hotel that serves exclusively passengers who are transiting through the airport. Banks and currency exchanges are plentiful and there is free wifi throughout.
