Best time to book a flight to Dubai
There are a variety of special annual events and festivals held throughout the year in Dubai. Even though the summer temperatures this side of the Sahara Desert tend to be uncomfortable, the coastal location keeps the weather from getting too extreme, and the city has plenty of diversions to help you beat the heat.
- National Day,November to December. This festival commemorates the day the UAE gained independence from Great Britain, which is actually December 2nd. Several important city buildings and monuments that are often closed open to the public and host colorful parties and displays.
- Ramadan, May to June. Check the calendar for the exact dates of this most sacred of Muslim festivals. There are several holy days of observance during Ramadan, with the feast of Eid Al Fitr breaking the great fast on the final day.
- UAE Desert Challenge, March/April. A race that involves both the best of off-roading cars and dirt bikes, this is the last leg of the FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup that begins in Abu Dhabi and ends in Dubai.
- Festival of Taste, April or May. A bucket-list essential for foodies, this celebration transforms the avant-garde Dubai Media Center into an international restaurant that features famous chefs, cooking classes, and other exciting presentations.
Airlines that fly to Dubai
Travellers here include budget tourists, pilgrims, families, or those just passing through a major transportation hub in the region. There are plenty of airports and airlines within the UAE and two of the major international hubs are in Abu Dhabi along with a military installation.
- Dubai International Airport (DBX) is the city’s major international airport with connections to land and sea transportation. Your flight will likely leave and depart from here, the busiest airport in the world when measured by passenger traffic.
- Dubai World Central - Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). Future plans for this fairly new airport include a residential area, a manufacturing sector, and a vast commercial zone. Flights from this airport travel both locally and internationally.
- Al Minhad Air Base (NHD). Although not a commercial or public airport, this is one of the most important bases for military operations throughout the Middle East. The base is also used by countries that are allied with the UAE.
