What to Expect When Arriving in Copenhagen

International flights into Copenhagen Airport arrive at Terminals 2 or 3, each with their respective customs and immigration checkpoints. Car rental service desks are available near baggage claim. Other transportation options include:

  • Metro trains are located above Terminal 3 and lead from the airport to Norreport Station in Copenhagen's city centre. It's about a 13-minute ride on this service that runs 24/7. Tickets are sold at the DSB ticket counter in the terminal or through machines at the station. The latter accepts coins and credit cards but no paper money.
  • Terminal 3 is also home to the train service that takes you to Copenhagen Central Station. Service doesn't run as frequently during the night hours as the metro but it still takes about 13 minutes to get to downtown. Ticket purchasing options are the same.
  • Taxis have their own stands outside of each terminal and can get you to town in about 20 minutes, traffic permitting. The cost to downtown is roughly 250 to 300 DKK. The official currency is the Kroner (DKK) but some vendors will take Euros.

Tourists and business travellers are exempt from paying this tax, which is charged on most things you buy in Copenhagen. Just keep your receipts to turn it. They really are worth money.
