Toronto Pearson International Airport is located about 22 km northwest of downtown Toronto. The Union Pearson (UP) Express train travels between downtown Toronto and the airport every 15 minutes from 5:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. The train ride takes about 25 minutes. Pearson airport has two terminals: Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. Terminal 1 is where international flights depart from.

Rio de Janeiro-Galeão International Airport, also known as Antonio Carlos Jobim airport, is located about 20 km north of Rio de Janeiro's city centre. The airport has two terminals. International passengers should plan on it taking two hours or more to get through passport control, baggage claims, and customs. Currency exchange facilities are located in both terminals. Galeão airport has 46 restaurants, including fast food and table service dining.

What You Need to Know

Travellers should arrive at Toronto Pearson Airport at least three hours before scheduled flight departures. During peak travel times, such as the holiday season, passengers can check the Pearson airport website for live updates on security wait times. Canadian passport holders travelling to Rio de Janeiro will need to acquire either tourist visas or business visas ahead of time. What to Expect in Rio de Janeiro

Once in Rio de Janeiro, travellers may want to check out some of the area's most famous attractions, including the Christ the Redeemer statue on Mount Corcovado, Copacabana Beach, Ipanema, and the Botanical Garden. Rio is also known for its historic churches and cathedrals.
