Flying out of Moncton

Greater Moncton Romeo LeBlanc International Airport (YQM) is the main airport serving this area, and although the facilities themselves are relatively small, this is an important transportation hub due to its location. It's one of the first airports that comes within range after crossing the vast North Atlantic Ocean and serves as a connecting point for passengers headed into the Arctic or further south on the busy American East Coast. There isn't any public transport connecting the airport to the city, but there are taxis, a limousine service, and a city shuttle bus available from most local hotels.

Airlines that Fly from Moncton to Calgary

The only direct flights from Moncton to Calgary are offered by ultra-low cost carrier Flair Airlines, and even then the schedule is only seasonal. Air Canada Express, Westjet and its subsidiary Westjet Express, all fly to Pearson International in Toronto where you can make an easy connection with any number of flights to Calgary. For those flying in the off-season, this is the next best option to a direct flight.

Terminal Information - Departing

Your flight from Moncton to Calgary is a domestic one, so you can skip most of the longer security lines and more heavy-duty customs screenings. The size of the airport, which is made up of a single terminal and a grand total of four gates for both arrivals and departures, makes this even easier. If you are flying with a low-cost carrier and are checking baggage, make sure the size and weight of the bags don't exceed the limit posted by your airline.

Terminal Information - Arriving

The polar opposite of YQM when it comes to size and activity, Calgary International Airport (YYC) consists of two large terminals, each divided into three separate concourses. This sounds complex, however, YYC is very well organized, and your journey is simplified as it is considered a domestic flight.

You will be landing in the Domestic Terminal, either in Concourse A with Westjet or Concourse C as a guest of Air Canada. Direct flights with Flair Airlines could land in any one of these three depending on the size of the aircraft. Each concourse is equipped with options for shopping, eating, or relaxing, including VIP lounges.

Practical Information

The Canadian Border Services Agency is the government body responsible for this airport, which is considered to be an official point of entry facility for customs and immigration services. As your trip to Calgary is a national one, you're not likely to have much contact with the CBSA, but it's still a good idea to have your picture ID and boarding pass at hand for most of the time.
