Flying out of Montreal
The city of Montreal has been an important transportation point since its earliest beginnings. This region has access to both the Atlantic Ocean and the various interior waterways that traverse the rural Canadian landscape, along with acting as a gateway to both the United States to the south and Canada to the west and north. Modern Montreal is equipped with several airports to continue this important tradition.
- Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) one of the biggest airports in the country and the region, an integral part of one of three major transportation hubs that include Toronto and Ottawa.
- Montreal Saint-Hubert Longueuil Airport (YHU) only handles regional traffic, which includes short-haul flights to isolated northern communities and Arctic destinations.
- Montréal-Mirabel International Airport (YMX) was formerly a big player right along with YUL when it came to international and domestic transport, but is now only used for cargo services.
- St. Jean Airport (YGN) hosts flight training schools, private charters, some local flights, and most notably the annual International Balloon Festival of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.
If your flight to Warsaw begins in a local or Canadian destination, the first part of your journey might bring you to YHU but an airport transfer is required. Every international flight from Montreal to Warsaw starts in YUL.
