Montreal Airport Options

Though Montreal is technically home to two international airports, one is currently only open for cargo flights. The other airport, Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL), is the only gateway into the city by air. The airport consists of one passenger terminal with arrivals on the ground floor. The arrivals floor is split into three sections, for domestic, U.S., and international arrivals. At international arrivals, you will pass through customs and security checks, then be directed to collect your baggage for a secondary inspection. As YUL is one of Canada's busiest airports, the waiting time may be significant if you're arriving at peak times.

All ground transportation links can also be found on the ground floor. Four bus routes serve Montreal Airport, with certain routes only running on weekdays. If you're heading to downtown Montreal, the 747 Montreal-Trudeau/Downtown bus leaves from the airport four times an hour, seven days a week, and stops at eight spots in the downtown core. It costs $10 CAD for an all-day bus pass.

By car, a ride into downtown Montreal will take about a half hour in normal traffic conditions. Taxis are always available just outside the terminal and charge a flat rate of $40 CAD into the city centre. You can also use the Uber mobile app to search for a driver in the area. Uber drivers are permitted to pick up on the departures level at Door 6 only. There are also eight car rental companies with service counters at Montreal Airport, including Alamo and Enterprise. To check car availability and compare prices, search car rentals at YUL now through Skyscanner.
