Cheap flights to Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport
Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) is one of the largest and busiest airports in the American Southwest. As the main gateway to Arizona and a hub for a number of U.S. airlines, finding flights to or from Phoenix Sky Harbor is extremely easy. Skyscanner can help you find the cheapest flights to Phoenix through its monthly search tool, which allows you to search an entire month to find the lowest airfare.
Best time to book a flight to Phoenix
Phoenix is in the middle of the desert, which means that summers are extremely hot, with many days above 40 degrees Celsius. Winters, on the other hand, can get surprisingly cold, sometimes as low as the freezing mark. Spring is generally the most pleasant time to visit. Because Phoenix is a hub for a number of airlines, finding great deals on flights is easy year round (with the exception of busy travel periods, like Christmas and Thanksgiving). What to expect when arriving at the airport
The free PHX Sky Train operates from Terminals 3 and 4 to the Valley Metro Rail stop at 44th Street and Washington. From there you can buy a light rail pass to take you into downtown Phoenix or to Tempe and Mesa. Taxis are also plentiful and there is a flat rate of $17 from the airport to Downtown Phoenix. Keep in mind that Phoenix is a very car-oriented city, meaning that renting a car will make your stay much more enjoyable. Renting a car at the airport is a bit unusual, however. All car rental agencies are located at the new Car Rental Facility, which is located just off the airport grounds. A free shuttle operates between the Car Rental Facility and the airport's three terminals. Keep in mind, however, that renting a car from the Car Rental Facility will incur a hefty surcharge. A cheaper option may be to take a taxi to a car rental agency elsewhere in the city in order to possibly avoid this surcharge.
Airport Facilities
Phoenix Sky Harbor consists of three terminals, numbered Two, Three, and Four (Terminal One having been long demolished). A free, 24-hr shuttle operates between the three terminals and the Car Rental Facility. While most international flights arrive at Terminal 4, some Canadian flights arrive at the other terminals and in those cases U.S. immigration and customs may be cleared at the Canadian airport before departure. There are many shops and restaurants both before and after security in all three terminals. While there are ATMs in all three terminals, Terminal 2 only has ATMs located on the landside. Terminal 4 also has a unique indoor walking trail, called the Sky Harbor Fitness Trail, that offers views of Downtown Phoenix, nearby mountains, and unique features of the airport. Wifi is also free and available throughout the airport.

If you have a few days to spare, the stunning Grand Canyon is a 3.5 hour drive north. When booking a hotel in Phoenix, Skyscanner can help you find a room for the right price.
