Cheap flights to Bora Bora Airport (BOB)
Welcome to French Polynesia, the one place you can go in the world to really forget about it. Bora Bora is one of many small islands in this quiet, idyllic corner of the South Pacific Ocean. It is only big enough to service relatively small planes, with few international connections. Skyscanner has the information to navigate this compelling and mysterious part of the globe with information about Bora Bora Airport as well as transportation points here and on other nearby islands.
Best time to book a flight to Bora Bora
High season for buying tickets to Bora Bora is May to October when the rains subside, the beaches are the busiest, and prices are highest. The best weather in Bora Bora is during the spring and fall, April and November when it's warm but mild with little rain. Winters are also warm but tend to be wet, with some dry breaks, so bargain hunters can get a really good deal on cheap flights and accommodations.
Airlines that fly to Bora Bora Airport (BOB)
There's only one airline that services this small airport, Air Tahiti. The advantage of this is your choice is an easy one. However, the disadvantage is that there is little competition when it comes to pricing and schedules. International flights arrive at Faa'a Tahiti Airport in Papeete, and from there connect to shorter flights to nearby islands.
What to expect when arriving at Bora Bora Airport (BOB)
The planes that fly into Bora Bora Airport (BOB) are all turboprop planes, and there are no elevated walkways into the single terminal. In this case, smaller is definitely better. Passengers can walk just a few steps and step on a ferry right after taking in the amazing ocean view that almost completely surrounds the airport. Bora Bora Airport (BOB) is on an islet called Motu Mute, which is why locals also refer to this location as Motu Mute Airport.
The nearest city, Vaitape, is a 25-minute ferry ride away. There are several private ferries for everyone, and hotels commonly send their own shuttles for guests. Ferries travel to two points in Viatape, and visitors can either go to the boat dock downtown or travel to the Fare Piti dock three kilometers away. Helicopter service is also available, which is great if you can afford it.
Airport Facilities
It's all about location, and all this airport really has to do is be in Bora Bora. There is little else here aside from very basic amenities, as the islet location is pressed for space. Very basic amenities include bathrooms and some concession stands in the open-concept terminal.
