Comodoro Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport, known informally as Santiago International Airport, is the busiest airport in Chile. It is located about 15 km from downtown Santiago, Chile's capital and largest city. The airport has one passenger terminal which consists of four levels. The departures area is located on the second floor and is complete with check-in areas as well as dining and shopping options. International passengers should arrive at the airport at least three hours before flight departure.
Toronto Airport Options
Toronto has two main airport options: Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ), also known as Toronto Island Airport, and Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ). Toronto Island Airport is relatively small and only accommodates four airlines, all of which only fly direct within Canada and the United States. Flying from SCL to YTZ is possible but you will need to make at least two stops.
Toronto Pearson International Airport is Canada's largest airport, so flight options are much more plentiful. It consists of two terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. Air Canada is the only airline that flies direct from Santiago to Toronto Pearson. Other airlines fly this route with one layover, such as Delta Air Lines (with a stop in Atlanta), American Airlines (with a stop in Dallas) and LATAM Airlines (with a stop in New York or New Jersey).
If you fly direct via Air Canada, you will be flying into Toronto Pearson's Terminal 1. Delta, American Airlines and LATAM all use Toronto Pearson's Terminal 3. The two terminals are connected by a Terminal Link Train which arrives every 4-8 minutes. Taxis can be found outside of arrivals at both terminals and operate at flat rates. Within Toronto, a taxi will cost between $20 and $110 CAD, depending on how far you're travelling. There are also many public transportation busses and express trains that stop at Toronto Pearson. Six different car rental companies also have customer service counters at each of the two terminals, including Enterprise and Hertz.
What to Expect in Toronto
Though Santiago and Toronto are quite far in distance, they're both in the same time zone, so jet lag will not be a concern.
