If you're waiting for your DFW flight status to update, there is plenty to keep you busy at this airport. There are a number of restaurants, shops and other amenities throughout every terminal. Some of the more interesting onsite features include the art program and the sculpture garden. You'll be happy to know that there are ticket counters located at each of the entryways from the Terminal Link in case you need to make adjustments to your flight, such as checking one of your carry-on bags. If you need to get Delta flight information, then you'll want to head to Terminal E. If you need American Airlines flight information, you may need to head to Terminal C or Terminal D.

If your little children need to burn off energy before your DFW flight status is ready for boarding, take them to the Junior Flyers Club. This kid-friendly play area is a great place to kill time before your DFW flight. Some of the playscapes available feature soft foam areas with planes, cars and other fun objects for kids to crawl on. All children should be accompanied by adult supervision, but there is an area for older kids to hang out at as well.

Some of the other amenities you can use before departure include the nursing rooms, interfaith chapels, the yoga center and the airport walking path.

Once your DFW arrival flight lands, you can navigate through the terminals to baggage claim. The carousel for your DFW arrival will be clearly labeled, so you'll be able to pick up your luggage and head into the city.

My Flight to Dallas

When you land in Dallas, you'll find that the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area boasts a business-friendly environment, exciting attractions, extensive commerce and public transportation system. Some of the most visited destinations in town include the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, the Sixth Floor Museum and the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center. You may also enjoy spending time at the Dallas Museum of Art, the Dallas World Aquarium, the Dallas Zoo or the Bishop Arts District.

Pick up and drop off at Dallas airport

Whether you are arriving or departing the airport, one of the best ways to get around the five terminals is by taking the tram system. The Terminal Link is useful once you are outside of security and need to get between terminals. You can find the nearest pick-up and drop-off areas by following the Terminal Link signs posted outside of the baggage claim areas. The Terminal Link is available from 5 a.m. to 12 a.m. and does not require any pass or ticket for getting on board. Each terminal has two points of entry for passengers coming off the Terminal Link.

For DFW arrivals and departures, when you're already inside the security gates, the Skylink is a free light rail train that follows the shortest route between each terminal. The Skylink service is available 24 hours a day, and on average, each ride only takes 5 minutes. The train arrives every 2 minutes, and traveling between the farthest points on the ride only takes 9 minutes. You do not need a ticket or pass to ride the Skylink either. If you want easy access to the different restaurants and shops found in each terminal, the Skylink is the easiest way to navigate your preferred destination at DFW.

How to get to and from Dallas airport Your DFW Airport arrival or departure is located approximately 12 miles northwest of Dallas. The Trinity Railway Express, or TRE, line can get you from your DFW Airport arrival to downtown Dallas between Monday and Saturday. If you need to use the TRE line, you can ride the complimentary shuttle to get to the Remote South Parking section and transfer to another shuttle that connects to CentrePort Station. You can also get to town by using buses that travel on Express Route 202 between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. every day of the week. There are eight interstate highways and three prominent rail lines located within the immediate area if you are heading to the airport in your own car or renting a vehicle at the terminal. The quickest route to downtown Dallas is via TX-114 E, and you'll take TX-183 W to get to Fort Worth from the airport.

The DART buses servicing the region arrive and leave the airport every half hour. The primary bus terminal and main train station that the DART and TRE each use are both located in downtown Dallas. The Super Shuttle and Orange line light rail are other options you can take to get from the airport to the city. The ride on Orange line light rail usually lasts about 50 minutes. On average, it costs at least $30 to take one of the taxi cabs outside the terminal down to Dallas. You can also catch an Uber ride from any of the five terminals.
