Getting to Papa Westray Airport

Papa Westray Airport (PPW) is a small regional airport in Scotland offering domestic flights between the island of Papa Westray and Kirkwall, Westray, and North Ronaldsay. Its biggest claim to fame is the extraordinarily short flight between Westray and Papa Westray: only two minutes, including taxi time! LoganAir is the only airline that offers flights to and from this destination.

Due to its small size, there are no international flights to this airport from Canada. To get there, you'll have to depart from one of Canada's international airports to Aberdeen (ABZ), Edinburgh (EBI), or Glasgow (GLA). Then, you will transfer to Kirkwall (KOI) before finally landing at PPW.

Canadians visiting the UK for tourism do not need a visa for up to 6 months. However, you'll still need a passport that is valid for your entire stay. Customs officials may ask for proof of a return ticket as well as proof that you have enough money to support yourself during your stay.

The Best Time To Visit Papa Westray

The peak travel season in Scotland is during the months of April - September, when the weather is warm and there are fewer rainy days. If you travel there during the month of August, be prepared for busy city streets and lots of musical activity during the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh!

Hotels and tourist attractions are cheaper during the winter, but you may have to brave cold weather and the occasional storm.

What to Do in Papa Westray
