Discover Monte Carlo
Glitz, glamour, and more glitz: that pretty much sums up everything you need to know about Monte Carlo and the Principality of Monaco (of which it is a part). Nestled between white cliffs and the deep blue of the Mediterranean Sea, a visit to Monaco offers a glimpse of how the rich and famous truly live. While any visit to Monaco will necessarily cost a fair amount of money, it's always fun to pretend to live the glamorous life once in a while! While there's no "cheap" time to book a flight to Monte Carlo, you can at least compare rates using Skyscanner's monthly search tool to find flights that are somewhat reasonable.
Best Time to Book a Flight to Monte Carlo
The only time of the year when flights to Monte Carlo are somewhat reasonable are during the winter months, when the weather tends to be rainy and overcast. During the rest of the year the sun is out and the harbour filled with yachts. During certain events, especially the Formula One Grand Prix and the Cannes Film Festival, prices for flights are astronomically high and hotel rooms almost impossible to come by. Book well in advance if you plan on visiting during those times.
Airlines that Fly to Monte Carlo Heliport
The Monte Carlo Heliport is served by two helicopter companies: Monacair and Heli Securite. Both offer flights to Nice's International Airport, which take about seven minutes. The flight along the coast from Nice to Monaco is stunning, although prices also tend to be high. This helicopter service is usually only used by the very rich. Monacair also offers private, unscheduled service to other destinations of your choice, including Cannes, Corsica, and Saint Tropez. Most other travellers to Monaco fly into Nice and then take ground transportation for the rest of their journey.
What to Expect at the Airport
Monte Carlo Heliport is a tiny facility and you likely won't be spending very much time there. Shuttle buses operate from the heliport to most major hotels in Monaco. If flying with Monacair you will receive a free shuttle service from the heliport to your house, hotel, or office, so there's no need to worry about finding a taxi or other form of transportation.
What to See and Do in Monte Carlo
Monaco is one of the smallest countries in the world, but also the richest. The Monte Carlo Casino is world famous, with stunning rooms and gamblers placing eye watering bets. Keep in mind that the dress code for the casino is strict and entrance fees to some rooms are very high. The Formula 1 Grand Prix is a huge event not to be missed and widely considered the greatest motor race in the world. The Oceanographic Museum and Aquarium is a world-class attraction. A walk through the Medieval streets of Le Rocher is also a nice break from the condominiums that otherwise dominate Monaco. Use Skyscanner's hotel search to help you find a room in Monaco at the right price.
