Inside: Toronto Pearson International
When flying to Helsinki from Toronto you will most likely be using Pearson International. The city's other airport, Toronto Island, serves mainly domestic and a handful of U.S. destinations. If you are flying with Air Canada or a Star Alliance airline then you will likely use the new and spacious Terminal 1. Most other airlines leave from the older Terminal 3. Both terminals offer food, boutiques, and duty-free options along with a number of lounges. Terminal 1 also has some interesting public art pieces along with viewing areas where you can watch planes land and takeoff.
Check-In: Toronto Pearson International
Most flights from Toronto to Europe leave in the evening and, fortunately, Pearson International tends to be relatively quiet then so long lines aren't usually an issue. However, you should still arrive at least three hours before departure since check-in may still take a while, especially for fully booked flights, and delays at security are always possible. Also, if you are connecting through the U.S. then your flight from Toronto may leave in the afternoon when Pearson tends to be much busier. Regardless of when your flight is scheduled make sure you have your passport and, if necessary, visa on hand.
