Terminal Information - Departing
Trenton-Mercer Airport consists of a single terminal building that houses two gates. After checking in at the airport, you'll proceed through a TSA screening checkpoint. You'll then enter the Departures lounge, where you'll wait to board your flight. There are no bookstores, souvenir shops, or retail boutiques in the waiting area, but departing travellers can enjoy hot pub food, beer, spirits, and wine at the airport's Sky Lounge. WiFi is available throughout the Departures lounge, and a few televisions are dotted throughout the terminal.
Terminal Information - Arriving
Passengers arriving from Detroit and Chicago will fly into Montreal's primary air facility, Montréal Pierre-Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL). After deplaning, you'll be welcomed into a large, modern Arrivals complex before passing through a customs checkpoint. From there, you'll proceed to the International Arrivals area on the lower level of the terminal building.
At the curbside outside of the Arrivals exit, you'll find numerous options for getting to the city centre -- including limousines, taxis, and private buses. Montréal Pierre-Elliott Trudeau International Airport is also served by several public bus routes, which offer a convenient and inexpensive alternative to taxis and limousines: Route 204 Cardinal, Route 209 Sources, Route 356 Lachine/Montreal-Trudeau/Des Sources, and Route 378 Sauvé/Côte-Vertu /Montreal-Trudeau. If you'd prefer to drive yourself, you can rent a car from Budget, Enterprise, or one of the other well-known agencies operating at the airport.
Practical Information
Parking at Trenton-Mercer Airport is available at several paid parking lots that are accessible 24 hours a day. The long-term parking rate of $8.00 per day can be paid with a credit card at the kiosks in the parking lot or at the pay-stations inside the terminal. It is recommended that all passengers flying out of Philadelphia Trenton-Mercer Airport arrive at the security checkpoint at least 2 hours before their scheduled departure time.
What to Expect in Montreal
If possible, you'll want to avoid driving in downtown Montreal -- finding parking can be difficult, and garages are expensive. The city's public transportation system, the Société de Transport de Montréal (STM) operates clean, comfortable, and reliable subways and buses that will take you to most of the places you want to visit. The main language spoken in Montreal is French, but most of the locals speak and understand English. That said, it's a good idea to learn a few phrases in French before arriving in the city -- especially if you plan to venture outside of the downtown core.
