Airlines That Fly From Munich to Vancouver
Lufthansa and Air Canada have the only non-stop flights from Munich International (MUC) to Vancouver International (YVR). The two airlines code share with one another. It's possible to be on an Air Canada jet one way and a Lufthansa plane the other. Flying time is about 10.5 hours. The non-stops tend to be more expensive. Both airlines also offer one-stop and two-stop service, but the connections do add to your travel time. The Franz Josef Strauss Munich International Airport (MUC) is 38 kilometres from the city's downtown core. It has two terminals, either of which may be used for flights to Vancouver. For example, Air Canada and Lufthansa departures check in at Terminal 2, on Level 3. British Airways uses Terminal 1, as do many American carriers. You'll find Duty Free shops, eateries, boutique stores, ATMs and currency exchanges in both terminals.
One of the easiest ways to get to the airport from downtown Munich is by train. The Airport Train Station is located between the two terminals on the basement level. Cost is roughly $14 CAD for the 40-minute trip. A taxi takes about 45 minutes to make the same trip, usually costing between $85 to $95 CAD. Driving is also an option but parking can run from $28.00 CAD per day for economy to $43.00 CAD per day in premium lots closer to the terminals.
Vancouver International Terminal Information
International flights, including those from Munich, use the Main Terminal, sections C or D. Arrivals use Level 2, which is where the Customs and Border Patrol Screening areas are located. When it's time for departure, head to Level 3. Specialty shops, including those with well-known brands, cafes, specialty eateries and fast food outlets are found in both areas in both the public and secure areas. Duty-Free shops are on Level 3, after security. ATMs and currency exchanges are scattered throughout.
Vancouver's rapid transit service, the Canada Line, runs from the YVR Airport Station right into town and is one of the quickest ways to make the 15-kilometre trip. Car rentals are available, but traffic can be challenging, especially during morning and afternoon rush hours. Parking can be expensive and hard to find, especially in the downtown core.
