What to Do and See in Ottawa

One of the first things you notice about Ottawa is Parliament Hill, especially if you arrive at night. Completed in 1865, the Gothic Revival structure, including the signature tower, is awash in bright miniature lights. The Rideau Canal is another famous landmark. The 202-kilometre long canal connects Ottawa with Kingston, both in Ontario. A series of locks controls the water level, just like they did when the canal opened in 1832. Come in the winter and join the locals ice skating on the frozen canal waters. Museums cover almost any interest, from the National Gallery of Canada to the Canadian War Museum. If you're into tech and the sciences, try the Canadian Museum of Nature or the Canada Aviation and Space Museum. All this is just a start. There's enough to do and see to keep you entertained for weeks.
