The current main airport in the city is Berlin Tegel Airport. It will close when Berlin Brandenburg Airport opens in 2018 or 2019. Berlin Schönefeld Airport, a small airport in the state of Brandenburg, primarily handles flights of low-cost airlines. Berlin Brandenburg will use the Schönefeld terminals for budget flights for about five years after opening.
Most flights from Berlin to Montréal have one stop, with a plane change. Departing from Tegel, Delta stops at Paris-Charles de Gaulle. Air France operates these flights. British Airways stops at Heathrow Airport in London. Air Canada, operated by Swiss International Air Lines, stops in Zurich.
