Discover Paros
New Paros Airport (PAS) is a small regional airport serving the Greek island of Paros, in the Cyclades. Located in the southwestern part of the island, PAS is about 10km from the Port of Parikia. It offers year-round flights from Athens, as well as seasonal flights to Thessaloniki, Graz, and Heraklion.
The best time to visit the Greek Cyclades islands is either May through June or September through mid-October. The summer months of July and August are perfect for sunbathing, but very popular with tourists which means packed beaches and expensive accommodations that are booked months in advance. To find the cheapest flights from Canada to Greece, try using the search tool above or Skyscanner's new mobile app! With the app, you can even coordinate travel plans with friends and family - so what are you waiting for?
Getting to Paros Airport
PAS is a very small airport with few routes. Olympic Air and Sky Express both offer year-round flights from Athens, as well as seasonal routes from Thessaloniki and Heraklion. Astra Airlines also offers seasonal flights from Graz, Thessaloniki, and Heraklion.
To fly from Canada to Paros, you'll need to take at least one layover as there are no direct flights from Canada to Greece. Most international airlines will route you through Paris (CDG), Amsterdam (AMS), or Frankfurt (FRA) to get to one of the cities listed above. From there, you can take a ferry or transfer to another flight to Paros.
All of the Greek islands are part of the Schengen area, which means that Canadians can visit for up to 90 days without requiring a visa. Be sure to check that your passport is valid for at least 3 months past your expected date of departure to avoid any issues at the airport!
Paros Airport Facilities
Paros Airport is very small with minimal amenities. There is a snack bar available, but other than that it is a very basic airport with only one terminal. You should have no trouble finding your way around! Avis and Hertz car rental services both have desks at PAS, and there is a 30-minute bus route between the airport and Parikia. Taxis are available just outside the airport entrance, which can take you to the Parikia city centre for around $30 CAD.
What to Do in Paros
Paros is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the Cyclades due to its stunning landscapes, crystal clear waters, and central location near the islands of Naxos, Ios, Sifnos, and Syros. As a result, it's easy to catch a ferry between islands to explore all the Cyclades have to offer!
After you arrive at Paros Airport, you'll want to spend some time in the nearby town of Parikia. It is the largest town on the island and home to some of its most spectacular sights, including the Panagia Ekatontapiliani (Church of 100 Doors), a 4th-century monument that was rebuilt after a massive earthquake in 1773. From Parikia, consider heading north to Lefkes, where you'll find many charming tavernas and idyllic alleyways. From there, you can walk down the old stones of the Byzantine Route to Prodromos.
Paros is known for its stunning beaches, each with its own unique personality - so be sure to visit as many as you can! Adventure seekers will love the many opportunities for water sports like wind and kite surfing!
