Malta International Airport is located just 5 km south of the capital of Valletta. Getting from the airport to anywhere on the island of Malta is extremely easy. There is a shuttle service, Malta Transfer, that offers direct connections to most of the main hotels on the island. There are also four public transportation bus lines (any bus line with an "X" before the line number serves the airport). Line X4 goes to Valletta itself. The bus stop is outside of the departures hall and you can find schedules and information about the buses in the arrivals hall. If hiring a taxi, buy a pre-paid ticket in the Welcomers Hall. The price of a taxi to Valletta is 17 euros. Finally, you may want to consider renting a car, especially if you are staying in one of the more isolated parts of the island. There are quite a few car rental agencies located in the Welcomers Hall.
