What to Expect When Arriving at Canberra Airport
Canberra's airport is located 8 km away from city centre. Its passenger terminal is divided into three facilities: the Southern Concourse, the Western Concourse, and the General Aviation Terminal. The Southern Concourse is mainly dedicated to Qantas passengers, and holds The Qantas Club, The Qantas Business Class Lounge, and The Qantas Chairman's Lounge. Meanwhile, the Western Concourse's main airline is Virgin Australia, whose two lounges are hosted there. This concourse also accommodates CBR's international flights, particularly Singapore Airlines's flights to Singapore and Wellington, New Zealand.
The airport was recently renovated in 2013. Inside, you'll find various restaurants and cafés, boutiques and duty-free shopping, and ATMs and currency exchange counters. Wifi at CBR is only free in the designated hotspots, the Express Pick-up area and the International lounge. There's also an on-campus hotel, the Vibe Hotel Canberra Airport, which provides 191 guestrooms, suites, and apartment-style lodgings. To reach Downtown Canberra from CBR, travellers can choose to rent a car, take a taxi or hop aboard public transportation, like ACTION's 11/11A buses and the Canberra Airport Express shuttle.
