Flight Information

Several airlines offer cheap flights from Bangkok to Toronto, including Korean Air, China Eastern, Jet Airways, and British Airways. Each airline departs from Suvarnabhumi Airport and lands in Toronto Pearson International Airport, but none of them travel nonstop. Korean Air makes a layover in Seoul, and China Eastern stops in Shanghai with an occasional first layover in Chengdu. Jet Airways makes two layovers, the first in either New Delhi or Mumbai and the second in Amsterdam. British Airways makes one stop at Heathrow Airport in London before continuing to Toronto.

A few other airlines provide Bangkok to Toronto flights, but they generally have longer layovers. These airlines include China Southern, Shanghai Airlines, Air Canada, and Turkish Airlines.

Suvarnabhumi Airport has one of the largest passenger terminals in the world, surpassed only by Hong Kong International, Beijing Capital International Airport, and Dubai International Airport. Free shuttle buses offer continual service to all terminals, the bus station, the eastern pedestrian entrance, the long-term parking area, and the car rental area. The airport provides two hours of complimentary Wi-Fi service per day.

There are 50 restaurants dotting the terminals, ranging from quick fast food places, like Burger King and Dairy Queen, to more traditional dining restaurants; all are open 24 hours a day. The queues are often long, especially at fast food restaurants, so travellers may find quicker service at a sit-down restaurant, even though there are fewer to choose from.

Terminal Information for Toronto Pearson International Airport

International flights to Toronto from Bangkok arrive primarily in Terminal 3, so plan accordingly. Ground transportation is available to downtown Toronto via the UP Express train that takes about 25 minutes and runs every 15 minutes between 5:30 a.m. and 1 a.m. daily.

What You Need To Know

As with most international terminals, it is recommended to arrive at the airport at least three hours before the scheduled departure time. Transportation is available from Bangkok via bus or taxi. Taxis are available 24 hours a day, while buses run between 4 a.m. and 11 p.m. Security will require passengers to have a Departure Card, boarding pass, and passport before allowing travellers to board their flights. Departure Cards are provided upon arrival in Thailand, but they can be easily replaced at the airport if lost during a stay. Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada will have the option of using the automated border clearance kiosks that allow for a quicker and easier way to re-enter Canada.

What to Expect in Toronto

To get the best that Toronto has to offer, try out the CityPASS, which offers nine-day access to CN Tower, Royal Ontario Museum, Casa Loma, Ripley's Aquarium, and either the Toronto Zoo or the Ontario Science Centre for CA$76 for adults and CA$51 for children.
