Arriving in Warsaw

Warsaw's Chopin airport is named after the classical Polish composer. This modest, but thoroughly modern airport is only 10 km from Warsaw city. It meets every standard that you would expect from a modern European transportation hub in cleanliness, efficiency, shopping and dining facilities and all the essentials, like Wi-Fi.

Whatever time of day or night you may arrive at, you'll have access to public transportation. There is an underground train that connects the airport to the city's underground transit system.

Warsaw Modlin, the city's second airport, is home to Ryanair, the European budget airline. You'll need this airport for a budget Ryanair flight to anywhere else in Europe. While this airport does have shopping, restaurants and Wi-Fi, not much of it tends to be well-maintained, and there can be huge crowds everywhere. If you plan to use this airport you need to be well in time for everything

While you can always get a taxi to and from this airport, there is a shuttle bus that takes passengers to the nearest train station, a transfer that takes about an hour.

Looking around the city of Warsaw

If you only have a little time in Warsaw before you head out to Krakow, Gdansk or elsewhere in Poland, the Royal Route is the place you shouldn't miss. Often called the most beautiful avenue in Europe, it is home to Warsaw's most greatest palaces and museums. Łazienki Park (say wah-zhen-kee), the Chopin Museum and the Palace of Culture and Science, deserve all the time that you can give them.
