Airlines that Fly to Qingdao Airport
Qingdao Airport is an important airport that is served by many major airlines serving destinations within China and further abroad. It is a hub or focus city for Qingdao Airlines, Beijing Capital Airlines, Shandong Airlines, and China Eastern Airlines. Air China, All Nippon Airways, Asiana Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Hainan Airlines, Korean Air, and Xiamen Air offer flights to cities throughout East Asia, with Beijing Capital also flying to Europe, Australia and Canada. Lufthansa is one of the few European airlines flying to the city, with direct flights to and from Frankfurt.
What to Expect When Arriving at the Airport
Qingdao Airport is located about 32 km north of the city centre. Line 7 of the Qingdao Metro is currently under construction and will eventually connect the airport to Qingdao's ambitious and fast-growing metro system. For the time being, however, the easiest way to get from the airport to the city is via taxi or shuttle bus. The drive from the airport to the city centre takes about 30 minutes. Of course, you can also rent a car once you get to the airport.
Airport Facilities
Qingdao Airport was expanded a little over a decade ago, but it is already operating beyond capacity and plans are underway to eventually replace the airport by a larger international airport. That being said, while Qingdao Airport can get crowded at times, especially at security checkpoints, it does have a decent selection of food and shopping options. However, prices beyond security are notoriously high, so it may be a good idea to eat before you pass through to the airside section.
What to See and Do in Qingdao
