Best Time to Book a Flight to Toronto

Flights from Cork to Toronto are less expensive from September through February with a slight uptick around the Holidays in December and into January. What to Expect When Arriving in Toronto

Toronto-Pearson is 30 kilometres from the city centre, while Toronto Island is only a 4-kilometre drive.

  • At Toronto-Pierson most international flights arrive at Terminal 3. You'll find customs and immigration counters on Level 2, adjacent to the public area. Sometimes international flights do end up at Terminal 1, which has its own security checkpoint. Free transport on the Terminal Link Train is available between the terminals, the airport's Sheraton Gateway Hotel and the parking areas. Rental cars and taxis are found near baggage claim. The UP Express train and public buses are also available.
  • The Billy Bishop Airport on Toronto Island has one main terminal so it's easy to find your way around. Taxis and rental cars are just outside baggage claim, as is a complimentary shuttle to downtown. Since the airport is on an island, you also have the option of taking a very short ferry ride or walking through the pedestrian tunnel, complete with moving walkways and a complex escalator system, to get to the mainland.

Airport Facilities

Both airports offer free Wi-Fi, currency exchange outlets, ATMs and an assortment of eateries and shops. Services are more extensive at Toronto-Pierson largely due to size. Some 40 ATMs are found in the pre- and post-security stations. Person also has permanent and changing art exhibitions, introducing passengers to upcoming Canadian artists. Lounges are available at both airports, including a special business lounge at Toronto Island that has computer work stations.

What to Do and See in Toronto

Exactly how brave are you? Toronto's signature CN Tower, standing some 553 metres above the city streets, does offer some panoramic views. Bring that experience to a new level by taking the Edge Walk, an outside trek near the top of the Tower. If you prefer your entertainment at ground level, visit the Ontario Science Centre with its interactive exhibits and IMAX theatre. Walk into the Royal Ontario Museum and be surrounded by dinosaur fossils towering above your head. Shoppers can head to Eaton Centre, an atrium style mall with food, boutique shops and more. Or, for a taste of local goods and produce, visit the vendors on Front Street.
