Departing from Jakarta
Jakarta has two airports: Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport (HLM) and Soekarno–Hatta International Airport (CGK). While both are used for domestic flights, HLM is primarily used for private, military, and presidential needs. International flights almost always depart from Soekarno–Hatta International Airport (CGK). Located 20 km from central Jakarta, CGK (also known as Cengkareng Airport) handles the needs of almost 59 million passengers annually.
Serving dozens of passenger and cargo airlines, the airport is a permanent hub for Batik Air, Cardig Air, Citilink, Garuda Indonesia, Indonesia AirAsia, Lion Air, Nam Air, and Sriwijaya Air. CGK has three terminals and they’re in the planning stages to add a fourth. T1 deals specifically with domestic flights while T2 and T3 handle international and domestic needs. Most airlines suggest arriving two to three hours early for an international flight, but always check with your airline to ensure a smooth and easy security process. While waiting to board your flight, enjoy the shopping and eateries, Islamic prayer rooms throughout all terminals, and the spa and salon services in Terminal 1C.
Landing in Vancouver
Although there are three airports in Vancouver, Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is the airport of choice for international flights from Jakarta. Just 12 km from central Vancouver, YVR handles the needs over 22 million passengers annually via their Domestic and International terminals. While dozens of airlines are served, Vancouver International Airport is a permanent hub for Air Canada, WestJet, and Pacific Coastal Airlines.
Free WIFI is always available at YVR for visitors who need to stay connected. Child play areas and a chapel offer instant stress relief. Those in need of a shower can find one in Air Canada or other premium lounges. Expansive aquariums in the International Terminal, spa services, and even professional dental services can be obtained before leaving the airport. Several local hotels provide free shuttle services to guests. Taxis and ride shares can be arranged via app, or head to the parkade’s ground floor to secure your own rental car.
