Orlando and Ottawa are two major tourist destinations, although for very different reasons. While Orlando is famous for some of the world's biggest theme parks, such as Disney World and Universal Studios, Ottawa draws its fame from being Canada's capital city and is therefore full of museums and historic sites.

It is important to understand that Orlando Sanford is Orlando's secondary airport and therefore has no direct flights to Ottawa International. It also offers few connections since its only major North American airline, Allegiant Air, primarily serves secondary airports within the U.S. However, you may be able to cobble together a cheaper route by flying out of Orlando Sanford. You can use Skyscanner's monthly search feature to help you find cheap flights from Orlando Sanford to Ottawa International.

Inside: Orlando Sanford International Airport

When flying out of Orlando Sanford you will likely be flying with Allegiant Air, which is a low-cost airline that exclusively serves destinations within the United States and does not offer flights to Ottawa. Be aware that while Allegiant Air markets its flights to Ogdensburg, N.Y. as being flights to "Ottawa," Ogdensburg is actually more than an hour south of Ottawa (and not even in Canada). As such, for the first leg of your trip you won't need to worry about customs or immigration. However, when you switch airlines or airports later on you will need to have your passport ready in order to enter Canada. Orlando Sanford offers some decent shopping and dining options, including a duty free store, several convenience shops, a food court, and a bar.

Bus 97 will take you to the Mackenzie King stop near downtown Ottawa. You can also rent a car from one of the rental agencies located on the first level of the parkade.

Ottawa is a great place for sightseeing. A tour of the Parliament is a must for any first-time visitor to the city. This being the capital, some of the country's best museums are located here, including the National Gallery, the Museum of History, the Museum of Nature, and the Canadian War Museum. Other must-see sites include the War Memorial, Chateau Laurier, and the Rideau Canal, which turns into the world's longest skating rink during the winter. You can find a hotel with Skyscanner or download the Skyscanner app for help planning your trip to Ottawa.
