Best hotel experience ever
We felt truly pampered at every meal and with every request we made. All of our tours were organized directly with the hotel, and we couldn’t be happier with the decision. The organization was flawless, and the prices were unbeatable.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the entire staff for the exceptional treatment we received. Everyone we encountered was truly special, but we want to give a special mention to Mustafa, Rezaul, and Mahinda for their unmatched kindness, professionalism, and willingness to go above and beyond.
We can’t wait to come back and experience this amazing place again!

Extremely Disappointed
We booked directly with the hotel
Little we knew, shortly after we booked there was a change in the management, and things have really taken a turn for the worse.
First of all, the place is called Ranthari hotel AND SPA – there was NO spa!!! I have asked 3 different people and every one of theme came up with a different excuse on why there was no spa. Even IF the closure was temporary (and considering the experience, I am not sure it was temporary) nobody informed us about the spa being unavailable.
Secondly, our daughter is celiac, and we contacted them multiple times, first to inform them about the dietary requirement to make sure they could accommodate it. They always said “yes yes, no problem”. We reminded them more than once over the month before our stay, up to the day before leaving. And then guess what? They did not have a single gluten free piece of bread or pasta. ZERO.
If they were honest and upfront about it, we would have brought our own. I put no blame on the guy managing the kitchen and the restaurant, he was an absolute star, it was just lack of communication (and lack of care) on part of whoever was communicating with us.
Restaurant:
Breakfast was a bit scarce and with not much choice.
The croissants were always stale, and the fruit was down to papaya and watermelon. Never saw a single piece of pineapple or a banana in the breakfast selection.
Moreover, most of the tour leaves at 7 am, but even so, there would only be black coffee available before 7.
With the half board you could chose if to have lunch or dinner, which allows you a good flexibility.
The food quality was very good, I will give them that, but portion were little, and we always ended up still being hungry after our meal. You can chose either one starter + one main OR one main + a dessert, which after a week, becomes quite repetitive. There are quite a few dining options on the island, all pretty good and affordable, so I would recommend you did not book half board, it would be more convenient to eat there a la carte whenever you want and try also the other places. Still worth to eat the the Ranthari restaurant a la carte, the prices are reasonable.
The tune steak is the best I have ever had in my life.
Let’s get to the hotel part itself. This is the most disappointing. Don’t be fooled by the nice picture, the place is falling apart.
First of all, we booked a “two bedrooms with Seaview”, as it was us and our daughter. By the way it was presented on the website, it looked like 2 separate bedroom with a common small living area that could be enjoyed… not true. The common area was just an empty corridor passing in front of the 2 rooms, with an extra door at the end of the corridor to separate the 2 rooms from the rest of the floor.
The balconies were so dirty (and nobody ever cleaned the during our stay), we just never used them.
But the state of the rooms was just appalling. The walls were full of water infiltrations and mouldy, causing the room to smell really bad and musty.
The see through curtains were full of black mould and the blackout curtains were a colander, defying their purpose, as they were absolutely useless, and the light coming in would wake you up pretty early.
Bed line were disgusting, stained and smelly.
The bathrooms were very small with absolutely no space to leave your stuff, not a shelf, a cupboard or anything, just a single hook for the towels, and they were smelling like sewage.
When we reported to receptions all the problems in the room, they acted surprised, as if they did not know.
They did NOT offer a discount.
Moreover, be aware that on each side of the hotel there are construction sites, which are noisy and causing a lot of dut (not the hotel fault, but just making you aware).
The 2 new building they are buildings on each side are toller than Ranthari and they are restricting the view, so, do not trust the idyllic and paradisiac photos you see on the internet.
The beach in front of the hotel is nice, they have sunbed for the guests, but you have to help yourself, there is no staff member helping you getting the beds from the pile they are in.
All in all a very disappointing experience and we would NOT RECOMMEND this hotel to anyone.
There are much better accommodations for a cheaper price on the island.

Generally very pleasant experience
Our room was spacious enough. There is a place to hang things, there is a table, chair, TV, safe, water (in cooler or water purifier), tea, mugs, glasses. I really missed the mini fridge.
Evenings on the side overlooking the sea were noisy, as music played loudly at the beach bar until 11 or 11.30 p.m.
In the bathroom, we didn't have enough hair conditioner and regular hand soap, although there was liquid soap, but we thought it didn't clean our hands well. A toothbrush, cotton pads and discs, a razor kit, a bathrobe, slippers - none of these things happened, although perhaps these things were available on request.
Periodically in the bathroom and on a daily basis, the hallway smelled like sewage.
Cleaning was not very good, often hair was left on the floor. I brought my blanket from home in case I couldn't get an extra one. She left a blanket on the bed, and when she returned to her room, after cleaning it she found it on my dirty suitcase, namely on its lid, which had visited many train stations, airports, toilets, etc. before arriving at the hotel.
On the floor we lacked shoes, as not all tourists were neat and often threw their shoes in front of the door, which we tripped over several times. On other floors we saw shoes.
Staff at the hotel are kind and friendly, always ready to help, answer all questions, helped to book speedboat to Ukoulas and back to Male. They took us to the boat early this morning.
We ate breakfast and dinner. We had a buffet breakfast and a restaurant menu dinner. Two courses could be ordered for dinner, but honestly, by the time Trips ended, we still hadn't figured out which section to choose from, as we were told on what's app that you could have one main course and one appetizer or dessert, and each of the waiters who served us all had different information. Some people could order pasta, soup, salad, and some people didn't
It was very gratifying that the coffee and tea grains were unlimited throughout the day. Free espresso and Americano could be made and even take a cup with you to your room or the beach.
Breakfasts were standard: fruit (we had pineapples, watermelons and papayas), waffles, beans in tomato sauce, several egg options, jam, butter, bread, turkey bacon, mushrooms and Mas Huni with rice flour tortillas.
Mas Huni tasted different every day. We've tasted this dish on another island before and the way it's cooked here is completely different from what we ate. This time there was a lot of coconut and very spicy, and the proportion of tuna was much smaller. I'd say I didn't like the dish that way, it was dry, spicy and not much fish. The first time I tried the juicy and delicate Mas Huni, there all the products were thoroughly shredded and to be honest I expected the same delicious Mas Huni for breakfast in this restaurant, but it didn't add up.
At breakfast for my young man, a waiter remarked that we were using the wrong plate for fruit. He probably didn't like the fact that we ate more fruit than other food and apparently tried to imply that we should take less papaya.
The day we left, we skipped breakfast and packed a sandwich. When we saw him, we were really upset. It wasn't fresh bread, lettuce leaves, mayonnaise, a slice of tomato and sausages. Eating that was impossible. Not even a bottle of water. It seems like a completely uneven substitute for breakfast ... for the first time in all our travels to get such breakfast with us.
As for the dinners, I left a detailed review of the Taste restaurant, as we had dinners on the restaurant menu.
The beach opposite the hotel was clean, it was constantly cleaned up, which was very pleasing. There are sunbeds, the hotel provides towels, masks and snorkels. There is a library in the restaurant/reception lobby where you can read a book.
On the whole, there were fairly good impressions. We took a walk around the island and thought it was really the best place to stay.

Very good hotel!
The rooms are modern and have everything you need for a great stay in the Maldives.
The reception offers beach towels as well as snorkeling equipment.
The breakfast, although limited, has enough to face a good morning on the beach.
The hotel also serves meals, although they are very expensive when compared to other options on the island.
At the top of the hotel, there is a panoramic pool.
The staff are all very friendly, with special relevance to the hotel manager.
