Gimpo International Airport

Gimpo International is the oldest airport in Seoul. It has two terminals, one for domestic and one for international flights. Hainan, United, and Delta are the main airlines with flights to Toronto from the Gimpo airport. Gimpo is located on the west side of Seoul, about 15 km from the city centre. The airport can be accessed by bus, subway, or taxi from the city centre. For international travel, it is best to arrive at least two hours before flight departure time. Gimpo has restaurants, but none are located past the security checkpoint.

Incheon International Airport

Incheon is Seoul's largest airport, with one main terminal and a second terminal in operation as of October 2017. Air Canada, Korean Air, Delta, United, American, and Lufthansa are the main airlines with Seoul to Toronto flights from Incheon. Airport Railroad Express is the quickest way from downtown to Incheon at 43 minutes. The airport is also easily accessed by bus, and taxis are available for a fare of about CA$65 to CA$130.

As with Gimpo, it is best to arrive two hours before departure. The airport features sauna and spa services, seven gardens, a movie theater, a golf course, the Korean Culture Museum, and an ice skating rink. Incheon International Airport has 45 restaurants and cafes ranging from fast food to fine dining. 

Terminal Information for Toronto Pearson International Airport

Toronto Pearson is a large airport with two terminals. International flights will arrive at Terminal 1, which is where the customs and immigration checkpoints are located. There is a currency exchange facility, International Currency Exchange (ICE), located in Terminal 1 outside of the security area. 

What You Need to Know

South Korean citizens flying into Canada do need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). It's a quick online application process that costs CA$7. Canadian citizens coming back to Canada should use their passports for re-entry.

What to Expect in Toronto

Upon arrival in Toronto, clocks need to be set back by 13 hours. Seoul has a temperate four-season climate classified as humid continental/subtropical. Toronto has a four-season continental climate that is 5 degrees cooler than Seoul, on average. Toronto has an express train called the Union Pearson (UP) Express, which runs from the airport to Union Station in downtown. The trip takes 25 minutes, and trains depart every 15 minutes. Taxi service is available for a fare of about CA$50 to CA$60 from the airport to downtown.
