What to expect when arriving at the airport
The airport is located about a 30 minute drive from Santo Domingo's historic centre. There is no public transit connecting the airport to the city, so you will either have to get a taxi, rent a car, or arrange for pickup through your hotel or tour operator. Taxis are expensive here due to the high cost of fuel. You should always work out the price for your trip with your driver beforehand. Uber is also an option if you're looking to save a bit of money. If you feel confident enough to tackle Santo Domingo's traffic on your own renting a car is definitely a worthwhile option. The car rental agencies are located in the North (B) Terminal.
Airport Facilities
There are two terminals, the older A Terminal and the newer B (North) Terminal, both of which are within walking distance of one another. Keep in mind that the A Terminal closes at 7 pm every night. WiFi is free and available at both terminals as are ATMs, currency exchanges, pharmacies, and lounges. Most of the food options at both terminals are fast food featuring either local or international options. Remember that most restaurants close at 7 pm. There are also a few duty-free shops offering souvenirs, clothing, and local gifts.
