That’s why we’re starting this list of where to travel in July and recommending a getaway to Guilin, China. A picturesque paradise in the southeast, Guilin is truly a destination to discover.
Located in Guangxi province, Guilin is more of a known destination when you’re travelling in China. It’s been a major stop on the backpacker circuit for years now as well as one of the most popular places to visit in the country for locals. And, once you arrive in Guilin you’ll see why. The unique karst mountain peaks of this part of the world are postcard-perfect – they’re even the subject of the country’s 20 yuan note.
The small town of Yangshuo is about an hour’s journey down the Li River from Guilin and is the perfect base to cycle around for a few days while taking in the views and exploring some historic sights. After sunset you can head over to the bustling West Street for some great eats and lots of people watching.
Guilin is also a relatively affordable destination to visit, making it one of the best places to travel in July on a budget. With daily speed train services available from major cities like Guangzhou and Shenzhen, it’s never been easier to get to this amazing part of China. You can find budget-friendly hotels and guesthouses such as the Zen Tea House Seven Stars Park or Lisa’s Hotel, a boutique hotel experience where you’ll be treated to lots of travel tips and lots of amazing views of the nearby hills.

Striking a perfect balance between historic cities and a relaxing countryside, this part of Italy is the perfect vacation destination to rest and rejuvenate on your summer adventure.
Into wine (and nature?). Piedmont’s vineyards are some of the best in all of Italy. Head to Langhe where you can taste some award-winning Barolo and Barbaresco red wines. Imagine being amongst the beauty of this region on a sunny July day, all the while enjoying the views at the foothills of the Italian Alps. Sounds like a pretty epic summer vacation, eh?
For some more outdoor adventuring head to Lake Orta, everyone’s favourite blue alpine lake that’s surrounded by a medieval-era village and luscious forest. Extend your stay in the region take in some history and visit La Venaria Reale, the royal palace and gardens near the city of Turin.
To help with planning your July trip, we recommend booking your hotel stays in advance and even renting a car to drive to your destination from Milan International Airport.
Tokyo, Japan

After being pretty much closed off to the international travel world for over three years, it’s time for Tokyo to make a comeback. And this global mega city is ready in a big way. Whether you want to check hiking Mount Fuji off of your travel bucket list (July is the best time to hike Mount Fuji, by the way!) or experience a festival, there’s something in Japan’s largest city for everyone.
Start your Tokyo adventures by exploring the neighbourhoods big and small. Spend a few days shaking off the jet lag by getting lost in the hustle and bustle of the Asakusa and Shinjuku districts. If you’re a Japanese culture buff, you can beat a day (or two!) getting to know Tokyo’s Koenji district. Just off the beaten path, little Koenji is where you’ll find some of the city’s top bookstores for Manga comic books, not to mention trendy vintage shops and cafes.
July is also a great time to visit Tokyo for all of the festivals that happen in and around the city. The annual Fuji Rock Festival is set to be back in full swing this year, with The Strokes, Foo Fighters, Lizzo, and Canada’s-own Alanis Morissette as just some of the main headliners.
