Spartan, clean, air conditioned

I really liked this very basic hotel at Beaconsfield services. Rooms are small and spartan but very clean, and the a/c is very welcome in today’s warmer English summers. Plenty of 24 hour junk food right on the doorstep adds to the convenience

Prepare to be interrogated

The room provided was extremely small, with single beds that appeared smaller than standard, more suitable for children.
There was only one electrical socket in the entire room, inconveniently positioned far from the beds.
The shower lacked a mat, and we had to specifically request one from reception.
The toilet, though not overflowing, was blocked upon arrival.
A hairdryer was not readily available in the room and had to be requested separately.
While these issues were disappointing, they were overshadowed by the inappropriate and offensive behaviour of a staff member.
Staff Conduct:
Upon arrival, we were greeted by a member of staff named Amir. What followed was a deeply uncomfortable and distressing exchange:
After stating we were from Leeds, Amir responded with, “Oh yes, there are a lot of jajas and too many Pakis there,” a highly offensive and racist comment.
He then asked where we were originally from, implying that we must belong “back home” somewhere else, and began guessing various towns.
He continued by asking our ethnicity — “Pakistani? Indian?” — to which we truthfully replied “Italian.” His surprised reaction suggested he had preconceived assumptions about us based on appearance or location.
This interaction left us shocked and uncomfortable. For the remainder of our stay, we deliberately avoided passing through reception when Amir was present, choosing instead to come and go discreetly. This significantly impacted the quality of our stay and caused distress, particularly to my child.
Additionally, staff could be heard laughing and speaking loudly at inappropriate hours, further contributing to an unpleasant experience.

Dear rsyed2019
Thank you for your feedback. ibis budget is a no-frills hotel offering clean, functional rooms at affordable prices. The room booked included standard UK twin beds, sockets under the TV, towels, and a bath mat. Hairdryers are available at reception upon request. Should you prefer more spacious accommodation with enhanced in-room amenities, we would be happy to recommend our midscale and premium brands such as Novotel or other options within the Accor group.
We take all guest concerns seriously, particularly those involving staff conduct. In this instance, we have spoken directly with the team member involved. The team member you mentioned has worked with us for over five years and is well regarded for his professionalism and customer service, with no prior complaints. From his account, the conversation was meant to be light and friendly, and we apologise if any remarks were taken differently — no offence was intended. All guests should feel welcome and respected, and we are reinforcing this through ongoing training.
We appreciate your sharing your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future.

Hotel fair, location & facilities excellent

Stayed overnight before flying out of Heathrow.
Hotel is at the service station, easy parking right outside hotel.
Rooms cheap & cheerful. Small but clean & comfortable. When we checked in, there was only one bath towel, asked for a 2nd but apparently, there was an issue with the laundry & they only had tiny hand towels & gave me 2 of those instead!
No kettle but in the morning, there was an area near reception with free tea/coffee/hot water.
You could hear cars coming & going but not too bad, apart from a car alarm going off at 2am!
The best thing about the hotel was having the services literally on the doorstep.
Not like most service stations, this one had a Weatherspoons, Nandos, M&S food and various other eateries. There was a lovely outdoor eating area to the rear of Spoons/Nandos with plenty of seating & parasols.
There's even a small lake to walk around.
The hotel was cheap, cost us £45 for one night, but it was the location & eateries next door that made it a great location

Thank you for your detailed review. We're pleased to hear the location and surrounding facilities made your stay convenient and enjoyable. We’re sorry about the towel shortage during your visit — this was due to laundry issue from the supplier, and we appreciate understanding. It’s great to know you found the free tea and coffee in the lobby helpful and that the services on-site added value to your stay. We hope to welcome you back again soon!

Never expected this even for a budget hotel

I know this is a budget hotel but I didn't expect to enter the room and find that someone had used the loo and not flushed.. The toilet roll was in a fancy point so not sure how they cleaned themselves.
There where pubic hairs in the shower "room" and a very sticky patch on the floor at the bottom of the bunk bed ladders..
Not of the rooms corners had been cleaned with piles of grime and dust in them. Will not be staying there again.

Booked a cheap stay here £43 for 1 night before heading to Legoland. Rooms were very basic but had everything you need and they were clean. Right next door are loads of different places to eat (it's a service station but a good one!) including a Wetherspoons. Coffee making facilities were just down the hall. I would definitely stay here again.
