perfect for backpackers
my boyfriend and me were staying at lidija's place three times in the last 3 years - each time 1-2 nights in july or august.
the rooms have perfect location for a sleepover if you need to catch a ferry or a plane the next day, and also for being so close to the beautiful center. the room is small but given the price it is optimal ratio of quality and what you pay for it. this place is simply made for backpackers - for families and people with big luggage would not recommend it, since it doesn't have an elevator but pretty narrow stairs.
lidija is a nice and friendly host - for check-in times she was always available, and even offers to drive you to/from the airport.
definitely will stay here this year again!

Unreliable and disappointing
I agree with a previous traveller on the unreliability factor. When my friends and I arrived in the evening, the owner wasn't there. We called her and she said it would take her some time to come meet us, so we decided to have some food and drinks while we waited. I had booked a single room for myself, as well as a double for my friends. Upon arriving, she said she only had 1 room available (the single) - and my friends would have to go elsewhere. I reminded her she had accepted my booking, and that I had paid the deposit for both rooms. She then said she'd ring around to see if there was anything else available, 'but you know, it is busy season - so very hard...I don't know if there will be any', shook her head and sighed. It was around 9-10pm by then.
I then said if my friends had to go elsewhere due to her error, then I'd like to go with them as well, as the point of the holiday was to be in each other's company (otherwise I would have booked something elsewhere for all of us to begin with) - could she please return our deposits. She refused. This was very frustrating. My friends then left and lugged their suitcases to another location (there wasn't enough availability for me to join them, so I had to stay). There was no compensation offered (cheaper rate etc, apology). I was charged full price for a not-so-great room. Shower and toilet were combined in one area - so everything gets wet when you wash.
Terrible waste of time on a holiday - frustrating, not cheap, poor service. And I felt terrible for booking this place as it put my friends out. To make matters worse, she realised AFTER sending them off and them arriving at the second place, that she DID have a room available after all - the guest had left, and she just hadn't cleaned it. She then said, "can you ask your friends to come back?" - NO!!! The only regret she then mentioned was she could have rented out that room - she didn't acknowledge the inconvenience and frustration she caused. Don't book here - the service is terrible. If I'd realised, I would never have made the booking in the first place.

Very bad choice
We made the mistake of staying at this place for the night as we had to catch a bus next morning. The basic thing we needed was a bed and a decent bathroom to have a shower. Little did we know that the bathroom has a very tiny bolier and takes 30 mins ot heat up. The hot water is so little that even 1 person had a tough time to take a shower defeating the whole purpose of thaking this room. The room is v v small and literally just a bed. The owner was also not that plesant when we asked abt the bathroom problem. My frank advice, look elsewhere this place isnt worh it.

Great location & great price
We stayed here one night and loved the location of the apartment- a 2 minute walk to Dioclesian's Palace and a 10 minute walk to the ferry/bus terminal. The apartment was clean & comfortable, though our room was small for two people. (The owner had given us the smallest room because we had cancelled the first night and she wasn't sure if we were coming). The owner doesn't live in the building, so be sure to stick to your estimated arrival time or call her to let her know when you'll arrive. We had to call her once we arrived and wait around until she got there. Didn't really bother us, but I could see it bothering other people.

Great little hotel for a short stay
This was a great hotel for a night in Split. We arranged to be picked up from the airport by the owner, who was waiting for us when we arrived. The 45 minute drive into Split was a lot cheaper than a taxi would be. We parked about 10 minutes walk from the hotel, as parking is quite difficult nearby. The hotel has only 3 or 4 rooms, one on each floor, with a steep wooden staircase leading up to them. The room was small, but very clean, with a bathroom attached, air-con and TV. Lidya gave us a map, and we headed into the city, with the Riva only a 5 minute walk away.
Perfect location for sighseeing in Split, and a very good price.
