It's a beautiful town full of color and at the Cocora Valley, which is really near, you can do trekking and have a great adventure.

Salento is becoming an increasingly popular town for its typical paisa architecture, quaint streets and proximity to the stunning Valle de Cocora. The main drag is Calle Real (Carrera 6) full of local craftsmen, restaurants and internet cafes. I recommend at least spending one day and one night to fully see all of Salento.

Salento is a charming little town up in the coffee zone of Colombia. It gets a lot of travelers but it's not overtly touristy. Breathtaking scenery and many nice cafes make Salento a wonderful place to relax, and catch up on rest. There are many hostels and cheap restaurants catering to the budget travelers. The local specialty is trout served on a patacon (fried plantain).

Salento is a very touristy town, but also a very pleasant one, and also (one of the three) excellent places to access Colombia's coffee country. It's cool and sometime rainy up there, but the country side is lovely surrounding Salento and many days could be spent just sipping coffee in Salento's many cafes. Also nearby is the sectacular Valle de Cocora, with its massive palm trees and beautiful hiking.
