This is my first choice for hotels in the Vancouver area. The location is good with plenty of shopping and restaurant choices in the area. The rooms are clean and well kept and the breakfast is very good. The wifi is good and the free parking is nice except the parking lot fills up fast.

Paying for a mystery reservation plus room rate discrepancy

Recently stayed at this Best Western Plus property while attending a nearby classic car show.
When checking in on Friday, September 5th, the front desk clerk presented me with two room registrations to sign. Queried why I was signing twice, he told me I had reserved two rooms. Assured him I most certainly hadn’t, he looks on their system and tells me I had made one in early May and another in late May. I know the late May reservation was made by me on the 27th, so I checked my emails on my phone and found a confirmation for that reservation in my travel folder. Nothing for the early May reservation, which after I asked for more specific information, was told that it was apparently made on May 3rd.
I did not register for the car show until May 25th, and after confirming with friends that they were staying at this Best Western, went online on the 27th and booked a room. Given that I did not know until late May that I would be attending this particular show, I would not be reserving a hotel room more than 3 weeks earlier.
I contacted Best Western Client Services Department, explained what was going on and they opened a complaint file and told me they would look into the issue and get back to me. At their suggestion I went back to the front desk, told them I had been in contact with the Client Services Department and I was returning the key cards for the second room as we would not be using it.
Client Services Department called me back today and told me that management at the Country Meadows Inn were insistent on charging me for two rooms as I had not cancelled the second room within 24 hours of check in. It’s difficult to cancel a room you when you didn’t know you had it reserved.
The second issue I have with my stay, for which they have not given a satisfactory explanation is the discrepancy in price charged for two identical rooms. When I made my reservation on May 27th I received a confirmation via email detailing a room rate of $252.17 + $37.82 in taxes for a total of $289.99.
The rate being charged for the apparent May 3rd reservation is a room rate of $289.99 (curiously exactly the same amount as the total for the reservation I made on May 27th) plus taxes of $43.50 for a total of $333.49. I questioned the difference at check in and was told by the desk clerk that the rate typically would be higher the closer to the check in date you were booking. I pointed out to the desk clerk that the mystery May 3rd booking was actually the one charged the higher rate and he dismissed my question by saying that he didn’t know why then.
I’m disappointed that this management at this Best Western are being so inflexible. At no point did I receive a confirmation for the apparent May 3rd booking (had I received one it would have been moved to the travel folder) and they are not interested in making any sort of concession. They have bought themselves $333 worth of ill will and I will look to other hotel chains for future travel rather than stay at a property owned by BWH Hotels.

Every aspect of the stay was brought down because of the first impression we got when our reservation wasn’t ready and we’re told it wasn’t there at all.

It is older but for the price it was good!
Friendly staff. Rooms were nice size and comfortable. The option to cook in your room is helpful! The mold in the bathroom and the lack of healthy options for breakfast are our only complaints. Would stay again!

On August 3rd around 10:40pm the fire alarm ring, waking up everyone, so not clear if It was a guest mistake, how It happen, what to do to prevent mistakes or if it was infra-structure of the hotel the problem that didn't support some type of plug in. No feedback, no compensation for guest exposed for this situation.
