Quaint surfing town with eclectic mix of locals and international travelers and residents.
Get out on the surf or watch from the beach with your cold beer in hand. Tortilla Flats is a fun spot for dining.
The reason to go here is that the river mouth builds up perfect sandbars off-shore and hosts some serious waves. Much of the town itself seems to be made out of broken boards, and the place has a bit of a surf camp vibe. The waves get big, and have fast lines. Depending ont he bars though they can break inside in quite shallow water.
A throw back to the Costa Rican backcountry surfing towns of yesteryear. Unlike much of the Pacific coast, not a lot has changed here in the past 20 years. It's still gravel roads, surf shack bars, dense jungle, waterfalls and amazing surf. Great place to kick back and lose yourself.
