Basic hotel for a reasonable price

Generally, I was satisfied with my 5-night stay at the hotel. The hotel is very basic - there’s nothing extraordinary or fancy about it. It’s a great option if you’re looking for basic comfort and want to pay a reasonable price.
One of the major highlights of the hotel is its location in a nice and safe area of Montevideo called Punta Carretas. The hotel is just one block away from the waterfront, which was a big plus for me as I always enjoy staying near the water. The area around the hotel is full of cafes, restaurants, and small shops. However, I must admit that this location is far from Montevideo Centro, including the historic part of the city. Personally, I walked back and forth many times, and each one-way walk took about an hour. I also used a taxi, which only took around 12 minutes. If you want to be in the city center of Montevideo, this hotel or anywhere in Punta Carretas might not be the right choice for you.
I arrived at the hotel on December 25, Christmas Day. A couple of days before my arrival, I contacted the hotel to request early check-in at noon (since my flight arrived in the morning) and a room on a high floor. Luckily, both requests were granted, and I was able to check in around noon and got a room on the 9th floor. The front desk lady that day was super sweet. In general, I found the hotel staff to be friendly.
The hotel lobby looked nice and was spotlessly clean every single day. However, I didn’t like how the guest floors looked. The walls on my floor were full of dirty marks, the outdated lamps didn’t provide much light, and there was a strange old-building smell. The floors definitely need a facelift. I also hated the elevator - there was only one, and it often took a few minutes to arrive. It was small, fitting only about five people, and clearly old and in poor condition.
My Executive Double Room with Balcony (#905) was big and clean. Some furniture was in good condition, but some other items were outdated, and the walls had dirty marks and scratches. The room’s design was very simple; the room was fine for staying in, but definitely didn’t feel “executive.” I was lucky with my room’s location on the 9 floor. It faced an inner courtyard, and the building across had about 10 floors, so it didn’t block much sunlight. This setup allowed plenty of natural daylight into my room. Additionally, the courtyard location made the room quiet. Unfortunately, the room wasn’t well soundproofed on the inside, so I could hear noises from the hallway. I appreciated having a small balcony with two chairs, and it was nice to open the balcony door for fresh air. However, there was no tall divider between balconies, so there was no privacy. My neighbors on either side could easily see into my window, and I could see into theirs. The kitchen area in my room was a plus. Everything worked well - I used the microwave a few times, and the refrigerator was big enough to hold a lot of food and drinks. However, the appliances, including the microwave and electric kettle, looked old and outdated. The closet was another downside - it was dirty and dusty inside, and I felt disgusted putting my clothes there. It didn’t have many hangers either. The safe in the closet didn’t work because its battery was dead. The bed was another disappointment. The mattress was uncomfortable, and the four pillows were very hard and awful. I woke up with neck pain every morning. The TV was small and outdated. The bathroom was spacious, with a large shower stall, but its condition was poor. It looked like something you’d find in a cheap roadside motel. The shower curtain was old, dirty, and yellow at the bottom, and it didn’t prevent water from spilling onto the floor. The toilet had weak water pressure, and there was no toilet brush provided. The bathroom amenities were of poor quality and smelled bad. On the positive side, the Wi-Fi was free and worked well throughout my stay.
For my stay, I paid $70 per night. I think this price is fair for the overall hotel quality and my experience. I had booked an Executive Room, but, as I remember, a Standard Room was around $50 per night, which seemed like a very good deal. Based on the photos, the main differences between the Standard and Executive Rooms were the size and lack of a balcony, as the design and conditions appeared to be similar.
Can I recommend this hotel? Yes, probably, especially if you’re on a budget and want to save money. If you’re okay with a basic, no-frills experience, this hotel can be comfortable enough. However, if you’re looking for high standards and top quality, this is not the place for you.

Location is good, nearby you have shops and access to the beach. Hotel is no smoking. Reception is 24/7, stuff is friendly. In the room you have a kettle, fridge and some dishes. I had a couple of cockroaches here and there. Everything else was good

Rests of poo in the toilet and a giant cockroach upon arrival. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL!

Rests of poo in the toilet and a giant cockroach upon arrival. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL!
We had to call the reception twice, one for the faeces to be cleaned, and then another for the cockroach. As in any hotel, you’d expect a full refund and arrangements to stay elsewhere, but they didn’t seem to get that.
Unfortunately having been to this property several times in the past, I can safely say that I am never ever going back.

We're still looking for the 3 stars...

Hotel well located in a quiet area. Nice welcome and very tight paid parking in the basement. Clean but well degraded room: flaking walls, summary bedding and little varied breakfast. In short, enough for one night but that's all
