Pletternberg bay is probably the picture perfect postcard destination you were expecting along the Garden Route. It has several great beaches at its disposal and offers a wide range of activities to cater for all travellers. With excellent dining options and plenty of nice bars at hand, there is never a dull moment in Plett. As a result this has a created a bit of a party atmosphere during the summer school holidays, but if you wish to avoid the party goers, then the town is certainly large enough to keep your distance.
Small town by the beach. But check out the posh houses surrounding :). Excellent surrounding. Place to chill by the beach and walk the dogs.
Plett (as it's known) offers a number of attractions to visitors doing SA's Garden Route: a string of lovely beaches, good seafood, and a decent bar scene. It's a little bit built-up for my tastes, but the stunning Robberg Peninsula at the bay's western edge is fantastic, and one of the best examples of South Africa's unspoiled natural beauty.
My husband and I spent 15 days between Christmas and New Years and we spent 3 lovely days in Plett. It's a great beach town where a lot of South Africans spend their holidays. Tons of families but great places to eat and have a good time.
