Maribor is small but beautiful city near wonderful river Drava. Very cheap and simple city with rich history.
The second largest city in Slovenia, Maribor is a charming, student-driven town that's very walkable. One of the highlights for me was Maribor City Park, where the red roses (and many other plants) were especially vibrant right after it rained, and there was a pond filled with turtles and coi fish. You'll also find the world's oldest grape-producing vine at the wine museum here. The city also sits nearby Mariborsko Pohorje, a beautiful (as 99.9% of things outdoors in Slovenia are) region of waterfalls and windy hiking trails.
