Beach in Sosua. Puerto Plata was beautiful. We toured the Fort/Battlegrounds. Ate and lived like the locals. The people are family friendly.

Didn’t feel safe. Utter poverty surrounded us and hospitality was far from adequate.

We stayed in Puerto Plata but hanged out at the beach in Sosua. Puerto Plata is a small town, not much to do except for taking the tram up the hill to see the view.

Due to the horrible resort I stayed at, I don't have very fond memories of Puerto Plata. The congested center of town is surrounded by gated resorts and communities. I won't return.
