Manizales is a pleasantly cool, mid-sized university town, surrounded by mountains on all sides. Its steep streets will make you think of San Francisco, but the town takes on a student vibe with an interesting mix of restaurants and bars. Most visitors pass through on their way to Parque Los Nevados, but it’s fun to take a cablecar up to the city center and wander around for a few hours if you have the time.
Located in the center of Colombia's coffee producing region, it is located on a ridge with the main road at the highest point and the rest of the city going down. Walking in Manizales involves a lot of going up and down hills. Weather is fantastic, and the people are very friendly. It is a good point to start any exploration into Antioquia.
It is definitely one of the prettiest places I've been! I fell in love with the food, place, and the people! It is a wonderful place.
OK stop while exploring the coffee region. Jumping off point for visiting Nevados National Park
