This is one of my favourite Chinese "old towns" that has undergone a serious revival (in the name of tourism/history preservation) in recent decades. There's plenty to do here to fill your day-including lounging in one of Tunxi's cute cafes and dining in some great restaurants. Wander up and down the cobblestone roads of the Ancient Street and soak in the charm of Huangshan and Anhui Province.
I like Tunxi a lot. It is a convenient place to stay for a day or two when traveling to or from Huangshan, and the city is not without charm, especially along the somewhat touristy but still very pleasant Ancient Street and by the old bridge. In addition to Huangshan there are also a bunch of villages and sights to visit around Tunxi.
