Disappointing.
Very little of the inside is open to see and the gardens are drab.
The building is enormous and elaborate, it does give a good idea of why the revolution caught public imagination, so do go for the history just don't expect too much

It really takes a whole day to get out to the Palace, wander around inside, and have any time left to see things like Le Petit Trianon - which should not be skipped. Would love to go back to hit the things I missed.

Probably the most beautiful place I've ever been. If I'm ever lucky enough to go back to Paris I will definitely come back here. I could explore it for days!

Grandiose!!! I was here once before but was only able to tour the gardens which seem fitting of a fairy tale. This time, however, I was able to enjoy the grander of the palace itself. The pomp and lavishness of it all really took my breath away! It's a lovely castle! It really makes you feel like royalty.. I mean, if you have a good imagination!

To enjoy the gardens we rented a golf cart. It was fairly expensive but walking the whole thing was not an option for us so it was well worth it. The entrance to the chateau was 18€ per person. That ticket price also gives you access to the Domaine de Marie-Antoinette. In order to enjoy everything you must start early and pace yourself accordingly.

Another tip is to buy your lunch at the Aux Pains de la Ferme (look for my review). Leave your lunch at the entrance as they won't allow you to go in the chateau with food. Once you're ready to eat, pick up your food and have a picnic in the gardens!

Also worth noting is that they have wheelchairs available in case you come with someone that has a hard time walking or being on their feet. The staff is very accommodating in that regard. Wheelchair is only good for the chateau; can't use it in the gardens.

This place is really a gem! If you're in Paris definitely add this to your itinerary.

The building it's huge ,reach, is an important part of fresche history , was The palace wanted from Luigi XIV ,an incredible work , talking about the architecture ! . He builded a chapell and anphiteatro inside the palace , there is an interesting statue made by Bernini , do not miss that one. Pay attention to the period you go there , would be really crowd, I have been in genuary was excellent except for the gardens , but the gardens are free so if you plan to come back , go to the palace in a low season moment and come back to the gardens in spring or summer .

Beautiful building and gardens abounding with history. Prepare for crowds, lines and lots of walking - even if you buy your ticket ahead of time. Still worth the wait

This palace is extremely huge. Better recommend coming earlier to spend whole day here. Taking RER line C from Javel station. € 7.5 for round trip tickets. €18 for palace and garden tickets.

Louis XIV's grand palace & gardens has clearly succeeded in demonstrating the glory & power of France & Bourbon dynasty. You'll need to do a day trip from Paris to do it justice. Highlights include the Hall of Mirrors, the royal apartments, & the spectacular gardens.

Not as nice as it used to be, unfortunately. If you go during the summer on a nice day the gardens are the real treasure here.
