This is a very nice hotel on Giudecca Island in Venice. It has been built restoring an ancient mill which had been destro ted. By a big fire. There is a fantastic rooftop lounge from where there is a fantastic view on the city. There is also a swimming pool on the very top of the building! Amazing!

Gayle and I stayed at the Hilton Molino Stucky for 2 nights after we returned from our Norwegian Jade Cruise to Croatia, Athens, and Izmir Turkey and back. Her Sister (Erin) was extremely generous in booking us here on her Hilton Hhonors points. Otherwise, this is easily a $400 per night stay and we wouldn't have had continual access to the associated perks including the separate Lounge with unlimited snacks and drinks.

You can't miss this place on this end of Giudecca Island. It's a massive brick Neo-Gothic structure that presides over the wide canal looking north towards the heart of Venice proper.. Within this Complex are the deeply buried ruins of former 19th Century Convent and Church of St. Biagio and Cataldo, the remains of one of Europe's largest flour mills (founded by Stucky Giovanni in 1882) , where electricity was introduced to Italy, where the first Italian elevators began operation and now where Venice's largest hotel and convention venue stands. The Flour Mill was abandoned in 1955, rehabilitation of this property began in 1988, with the Hotel opening in 2007. The delay could be partially explained by historical preservation considerations, the Italian way of conducting business and politics, and a fire in 2003.

There were a few things I didn't particularly enjoy during our stay, including needing to take a boat to get to Venice proper (instead of walking) and my feeling that with all the admirable restoration work and modern accommodations, this Hotel lacked soul. Erin would also tell you that she didn't appreciate how Front Desk staff so easily let one particularly pushy and chronophage French guest cut in front of her in line and suck up all the air in that part of the room.

On the positive side, the rooms were comfortable, the showers were strong and hot, the Hilton Hhonors Lounge was very nice, the breakfasts were tasty and generous, and with that one exception, hotel staff were friendly and helpful.

Perhaps the biggest bonus or our stay at the Hilton Molino Stucky was walking along parts of Giudecca Island itself. On our last night, we stopped at the 795 Gallery for some artistic enjoyment, paused to listen to some well performed street music, had a wonderful waterside meal at the nearby Ostaria AE Botti, and romantically walked hand-in-hand back to the Hotel. For us, it was a perfect farewell (for now) evening in Venice.

This is really a review of the Gym and Spa here at the Hilton. Come pamper yourself for a day. 25 euros buys you two hours in this peaceful oasis. You get a locker, bathrobe and towels. No slippers provided. There is a dry sauna in the women's locker room and a Turkish steam bath next to the jacuzzi, then a relaxation room with snacks and drinks provided. Truly a relaxing experience. Massages are 50 and 80 minutes, but quite expensive.

If you have been saving up your Hilton Hhonors points, this is the place to spend them! At rates that average around $400 U.S. PER NIGHT, this place is far from a bargain. But, it's an American style, comfortable hotel in Italy.

The hotel itself is located on an island across from the main section of Venice, but the hotel does provide a free shuttle boat. BE SURE TO CHECK THE HOURS OF OPERATION when you arrive or you will be stuck with a very, very pricey private water taxi ride back to your hotel. The shuttle isn't perfect and it fills up very fast so you may find yourself waiting for an hour to get back to the hotel from the mainland. This was a bit of a pain but we learned to time it right so we'd go at off hours.

The room itself was fine, very spacious and modern with a comfortable American style bathroom (look, after being in Italy and staying and small b&b type inns for a week, it was Heaven to have a big shower and a toilet with a seat)! The room had standard Hilton bedding and amenities (t.v., safe, fluffy towels).

Getting to the hotel from the airport requires a private water taxi unless you want to be stuck on the SLOW vaporetto - the Hilton is just about the last stop when coming from the airport. Getting a vaporetto to the train station was easy and a short walk from the hotel to the dock.

The hotel's rooftop bar is overhyped but it's worth a look if you have the time. Service was great and all hotel employees were friendly and welcoming. I'd stay here again, but first I have to build my Hilton Hhonors points back up since I blew them all on a 3 night stay here.

Good size rooms. Easy to jump on a water taxi to go across the river.
