US Virgin Islands Vacations

The trio of sea, sand and sun are well represented on the islands of St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix, the main islands which make up the U.S. Virgin Islands. Their status as an American territory makes them a popular, passport-free destination for United States citizens, yet their Caribbean flavour fills the air with the sounds of steel drums ... and the scent of callaloo soup. Bake your brain in the hot sun and then fuzz the edges further with a dram of Cruzan rum, manufactured on the islands. Whether you prefer cruise-ship culture or eco-tours of the rainforest (or both), the U.S. Virgin Islands has enough diversity to offer a plethora of spots and activities for everyone.

Weather

Most people visit the Virgin Islands when winter doldrums set in; but there really isn’t a bad time to visit this little slice of Caribbean heaven. No matter what time of the year you plan your vacation, expect ... Read more
temperatures in the 80s (upper 20s Celsius) during the day and 70s (low 20s Celsius) at night. However, be sure to pack an umbrella next to your swimsuit since tropical showers are fairly frequent (don’t worry: they blow over so quickly you’ll barely notice). The weather gets more intense during hurricane season, which lasts from June to November, so if you’re traveling at this time of the year, you might want to get cancellation insurance in case a hurricane hits before you leave.

This is a magic archipelago which include three gorgeous islands. St Thomas is the most touristic, with large hotels, tax free shops and cruise boats; i some points it is maybe too much urbanized, however there are really beautiful beaches and landscapes. However it is a pity they had built so many houses around the bay of Magens beach, a place which ould be paradise. St John is more wild. Two third of the area are a national park preserve. The main town is small and there are only few settlements. Nature is strong and overwhelming. Trunk Bay is fantastic. There is also a very expensive resort with no tv, phone, etc. St.Croixis maybe is the most infamous but is a very beautiful place, quite calm and relaxing, with characteristic mills and buildings. I'm looking forward to go back.

Been to St Croix, St Thomas, and St John. In my opinion St John is the nicest but overall all the islands are just ok. Overpriced and the people that live here are jerks. To St Croix's defense, we did visit after a hurricane went through. I would never recommend the US Virgin Islands to anyone
